Who is the Captain of Rajasthan Royals 2023

Sanju Samson, a young right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper, has been elected as captain of Rajasthan Royals Team 2023. He was the captain of the team last year and is expected to lead the team again in IPL 2023.

Sanju Samson

If you are a fan of the Indian Premier League, then you will surely be looking forward to the IPL 2023. In this edition, teams will be participating in a mini auction to find the best players. 650 players are expected to be involved in the process. The RR is one of the many franchises that will be in the hunt for the title.

Rajasthan Royals will be in the spotlight again in 2023. The team, which has been formed in 2008, won the inaugural edition of the IPL. But in recent times, they haven’t been able to replicate their achievements from the first season.

As the franchise looks to build on its current squad in the IPL 2023 auction, it will be interesting to see which players they choose to retain. A few players were retained by the RR last season. These included Jos Buttler, who led England to the T20 World Cup.

Another player to look out for in the upcoming auction is Sanju Samson. This IPL player is an elite spinner. He has scored three fifties in his career. Although, he only played 14 matches in the league, he scored 484 runs.

It is rumored that he will lead the RR team in the IPL 2023. Other notable players include Jason Holder, who can fill the void left by Jimmy Neesham. Also, there are four overseas players allowed in a single team.

Jason Holder

Jason Holder

The Rajasthan Royals have signed West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder for INR 5.75 crore. He was a coveted purchase by the franchise at the IPL auction 2023 in Kochi. RR had a decent campaign in the last IPL season. They finished runners-up in the final. However, there were some glimpses of inconsistency in the squad.

One of the reasons for this was the lack of a reliable all-rounder. A player with experience in the death overs, a good record in the T20s and a wide yorker is a luxury for any white-ball team. Having him in their squad gives the team a flexible batting lineup and a reliable option at the Sawai Man Singh ground.

As a player with a good record in the T20s, it was no surprise that the Royals picked him up. His batting is reliable and his wicket-keeping skills are excellent.

The Royals also had a strong bowling unit, featuring Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult. Despite their limited budget, they made some interesting purchases at the auction.

Another exciting buy was Joe Root. During his time in England, he led his country to a T20 World Cup victory. Now, he is set to make his IPL debut.

Other big buys included KM Asif for Rs 30 lakh, Murugan Ashwin for INR 20 lakh and Donovan Ferreira for INR 50 lakh. These players are expected to give the team a decent run in the IPL.

Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa is a right-arm leg spinner, who has played for Australia in white-ball formats. He was acquired by Rajasthan Royals during the IPL 2023 auction. However, he was not able to make a significant impact in IPL 2023.

Despite having a small budget of 13.2 crores, Rajasthan Royals made several interesting purchases. They have a well-balanced squad with a mix of youngsters and established players. A number of cricketers from overseas were also bought during the IPL mini-auction.

Having failed to win the IPL title in the last five seasons, Rajasthan Royals are looking to improve on their performance in IPL 2023. Several new acquisitions will help the Royals to strengthen their team.

The Rajasthan Royals have signed West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder. They will be hoping that he can play a crucial role in the next season of the IPL.

Rajasthan Royals have also bought a number of Indian players. They have KC Cariappa, Kunal Rathore, Murugan Ashwin, and Akash Vashisht.

Rajasthan also picked up Jos Buttler, who has been a consistent batsman and wicketkeeper. They will hope that he can inspire the rest of their team to perform better.

The Rajasthan Royals have a great bowling line-up. Their bowlers include Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, and Yuzvendra Chahal. Although their top order is not as strong as before, they have formed a strong middle order.

In addition to the three players already mentioned, Rajasthan Royals have signed five more uncapped players. These include Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav, Devdutt Padikkal, and Kuldeep Sen.

Joe Root

Joe Root

One of the most intriguing buys by Rajasthan Royals Team 2023 in the IPL mini auction was England’s top player Joe Root. Initially, Root was unsold in the first phase of the auction.

The Rajasthan franchise decided to pay Rs 1 crore to acquire him. However, the former captain was subsequently bought during the accelerated auction.

After Joe Root’s signing, the team has signed West Indian all-rounder Jason Holder. He will be a good fit for the Royals and will provide some good hitting power to the team.

Another interesting purchase is Adam Zampa. The former Windies all-rounder has been a consistent performer on Indian tracks. His experience will prove to be a plus for the franchise.

The team has also signed several young batsmen. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Kunal Rathore, Donavon Ferreira, and Abdul PA are some of the youngsters in the Rajasthan squad.

The franchise has also retained several key players. Jos Buttler has been one of the leading run-scorers in IPL 2022. Besides, he has shown great wicketkeeping skills.

Joe Root has a wealth of experience with all kinds of cricket formats. He will be able to provide help on the bowling end as an off-spinner. He can score quick runs in death overs.

With the addition of Root, the Rajasthan franchise will have a balanced squad in the upcoming season. It will be a tough challenge for the team to win the title in 2023, but the franchise is hoping to come back with a vengeance.

Other players retained by Rajasthan Royals

The Rajasthan Royals Team 2023 will include many star performers. They will be led by Sanju Samson, who is a wicketkeeper batsman and one of the most promising young players in Indian cricket. He was born on November 11, 1994.

The Royals had their best ever season in 2022. They reached the final of the lucrative league but lost to Gujarat Titans in a seven-wicket thriller. In their 14 matches, they won nine and finished second in the point table.

Rajasthan Royals have shown a lot of confidence in their squad. They have retained three players from their previous team. One of these was Sanju Samson, who is one of the strongest hitters in the game.

Other players retained by Rajasthan Royals are: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, and Yuzvendra Chahal. However, they also have to fill the remaining 9 positions.

In addition, they have four vacancies for overseas players. Their biggest gamble was acquiring Ben Stokes, a swashbuckling Englishman, in the 2022 mega auction. While they did not get their man, they did acquire a talented bowler in Murugan Ashwin.

Some top-notch picks have paid dividends in a cash-rich league. The likes of Jos Buttler and Trent Boult made great impacts on the RR squad.

In the IPL 2023 auction, Rajasthan Royals will arrive with a purse of Rs 13.2 crore. As such, they will have to buy nine cricketers.

IPL 2023 league phase split into two groups

The IPL 2023 league phase will be split into two groups. This has been done for controlling the number of games played in the league phase. Each team will play four matches against other teams in their group.

Group A includes Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. All teams will be ranked on a points table.

Group B contains Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. These teams will play one match against each of the other five teams in the group.

The final of the IPL will take place on May 29. The winner of the first qualifying match will go directly to the final. Those who finish second or third will face an eliminator. In the elimination match, the loser will be placed between the fourth and third-placed teams.

This season will have ten teams. Each team will be given a minimum player count of 18 and a maximum of 25. Teams are allowed to have up to six foreign players.

The IPL league stage will be played across four international standard venues. Wankhede Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and MCA International Stadium in Pune will host three matches each.

All teams will play at least seven home games. There will be a total of 70 matches in the league phase. Some of the best venues include Wankhede Stadium and Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, and the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Ahmedabad.
